This professional development course will provide you with an in-depth understanding of the Science of Reading and how to apply that knowledge to create a Structured Literacy schedule.
Topics addressed in the course include oral language, phonemic and phonological awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, reading comprehension, and writing.
This professional development course for Kindergarten through 4th grade teachers will give you a crystal-clear understanding of the rules of English phonics.
You’ll take a deep dive into the English language: its sounds, rules, and structure of phonics skills (i.e. digraphs, long vowels). You’ll also learn about the structure of multisyllabic words, including how to teach students to divide and decode them.
All courses were developed by Alison Ryan, M.Ed. Alison has been working in schools since 2005 in a variety of positions, including classroom teacher, reading interventionist, reading specialist, and Director of Curriculum & Instruction. She is trained in the Orton-Gillingham method, SIOP method for working with English language learners, has extensive experience working with struggling readers, and has a master’s degree in literacy leadership.
